I NEED A HOME!

I was found wandering the streets of Sahuarita, just outside of Tucson, on March 23rd. I’m a very sweet and gentle pit/mastiff mix. I didn’t have a collar on and am not micro-chipped so no one knew my name, but Gina decided on Tonka which is a Dakota-Sioux word meaning "Great" or "Big”. I ended up back in Tucson and I love my new home. I even get to see Amanda & Gina every month!

My name is Sammy and I was rescued in April 2004. I belonged to a breeder who was moving into a place that wouldn’t allow all the cats so I was going to be euthanized along with some of my friends. Luckily, Gina worked at the vet hospital I was at and

and saved me. She took me home and I’ve been there ever since. My friends weren’t put down either so it was a happy ending for everyone involved.

It was July 2004 and I was 3 months old. I was taken in by a Tucson animal clinic and they called me Opal. One weekend Gina and Amanda came to visit and the staff told them about me. There was a lot of commotion that day so I was hiding under a desk. After some coaxing, they were able to get me out and took me to Flagstaff where my name became Osita, meaning Little Bear in Spanish.

In December 2004, my 4 brothers and I were dropped off at an animal shelter. I was 2 months old and very shy. My brothers were all very outgoing but I was scared and preferred to hide under my bed. Amanda worked there and let me go up front with her during the day which made me feel a lot better! After a few days she even took me to her house. Once she

she took me home there was no turning back. I became part of the family in no time. Whenever I was scared I would yelp and cry, so I was given the name Niobe after a weeping queen from Greek mythology. I’m still quite shy and afraid of things to this day, but I love my home and would never change a thing!
